Advanced Animal Care of Mount Pleasant was founded in July 2001 by Drs. David and Leslie Steele. Both David and Leslie attended undergraduate as well as Veterinary College at Auburn University (War Eagle!), graduating in 1992 and 1994 respectively. They moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1994 and now call the Low Country home. The Steele's have two beautiful girls, MaryLou and Olivia, and several "four-legged" children.
Dr. David Steele obtained a degree in Microbiology before attending Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has worked in various practices and emergency clinics over the years and has received advanced training in ultrasonography, reproductive care, laser surgery, soft-tissue and reconstructive surgery. He is currently the director of medicine at Advanced Animal Care and has a special interset in preventative medicine and animal behavior.
Dr. Leslie Steele also earned her degree in Microbiology prior to attending Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. After moving to the Low Country, she opened the Charleston Cat Clinic in Downtown Charleston. She is now practicing part-time with a particular interest in internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and feline medicine. She is also director of Advanced Animal Care stray program. This program is working to provide stray animal care and population control in the Charleston area.
